KAN Meeting at IDA Monguelfo - April 2024

14.06.2024

Wastewater treatment was, is and remains a very extensive process and cannot be learned simply through a tutorial. For this reason, our wastewater treatment plants are members of the KAN (sewage plant quarter) since more than 30 years, which every year offers many interesting topics, from field reports to technical and futuristic innovations.

Elmar Stipfl from the Water Protection Office looks after our sewage plants throughout the country, together with spokesmen Kirchler Wolfgang and his successor Pitscheider Philipp for the eastern half of the country and Edmund Gurschler for the western half.

Every year they travel to Austria to attend conferences where these topics are presented and bring them to internal KAN meetings.

On 16.04.2024, our supervisor organised this event at the wastewater treatment plant in Monguelfo, in cooperation with the operations team.

In addition to the representation of our five wastewater treatment plants, those from Brixen, the lower Eisack valley and Wipptal were also present, and this time we had the pleasure of having the district director of the Water Protection Office Faes Robert and the mayor of the town of Monguelfo-Tesido Dominik Oberstaller in the group. The morning was characterised by interesting technical presentations, starting with topics related to wastewater treatment, and ending with several presentations on 'Energy in wastewater treatment plants', which is a very important topic today.

The Monguelfo plant then presented its current investment project and planned projects.

In the afternoon, there was a tour of the plant and finally the wastewater samples were handed out for comparative measurement. This serves to compare the laboratory work carried out at the plants.

The lively discussions and exchange of experiences during the event proved once again that these meetings are very useful and fruitful for all of us.
